Golden Globe nominations are out! Time to update the list!

Ok, so technically the nominations were announced on Dec 9, but work, the holidays, life in general, got in the way. But, now the list is updated. There are some interesting changes – Gladiator 2 and Blitz fell out of the top 10 predictions for best picture and A Real Pain and Nickel Boys moved up into the top 10. I really enjoyed A Real Pain, so I was happy to see that one move up. However, change I was not thrilled about was all of the hype that The Substance has gotten. Not that I think it will be a bad movie – the preview looked kind of cool. But it looks a bit scary, so I will need someone to see that one with me so they can tell me when I can stop hiding my eyes. Honestly, I almost hate suspense more than violence. Unless of course it is suspenseful violence. 😊

I am a bit discouraged in my movie watching this year – I am a bit behind schedule. I have been busy lately, but that is no excuse to shirk my movie-watching responsibilities. Really, I think it is more about opportunity than anything else. I watched almost everything playing nearby that was on my list and am waiting for a bunch to come out streaming. But next week will be a big flurry of movie activity! So many movies coming available to see in the next week – it should be so much fun!

Anyway, here is the new grid. I added some columns for the Golden Globe nominations in an orangey/gold color. These are the predictions as of December 12 on the Variety website, along with Golden Globe nominations.
