Thanksgiving week update

Thanksgiving week is big for the early Oscar list. Not as big as Christmas week, of course, but there are always some big releases at Thanksgiving. This year the 2 big ones are Wicked and Gladiator 2. I saw Wicked last night and will be seeing Gladiator 2 this weekend. Wicked was long – very long. There are lots of movies that are over 2 and a half hours, but they took the first act of a Broadway show and made it 2 hours and 40 minutes long. It was good, of course, but long.

Anyway, I updated my list and my grid according to the latest Variety.com update. While I was at it, I arranged the top 10 best picture predictions according to the current rank and also fixed a few errors in my first grid. I do have a day job (and a bunch of other responsibilities), so please don’t expect perfection. This is strictly for fun.

Here are a few updates to the list – 2 new movies got added to the list (A Different Man and All We Imagine As Light) and 4 movies were dropped (Unstoppable, Thelma, Kinds of Kindness, and Challengers). That only means they are not in my top list for watching early. They very well may be added back after I expand my categories after the official nominations are out.

Here is the new grid:
